About Me
I wanted to do this once and for all. I am going to fill in these stupid boxes with something pertinent to describing the dude that is Nick. My friends say Nick is Catholic. Yep, it is true. If I saw the Pope walking by I would give him a high five. I love my faith, love our Church, love our Lord. Before we start getting all rainbows and butterflies, my faith is
tough! I am a Crappy Catholic. I have so much room to grow and that is the joy in the life ahead, there is always something new. So keeping up with this whole faith topic, I love theology. Not like, love, love theology. Glancing around my office here I have theology books plastered on the walls. There is something magical about that word. Theo = God logy = Science. It is good stuff and I could stay up for hours on end with a glass of wine and a Brother/Sister in Christ discussing the relationship of literal and symbolic thesis in the Gospels. You can’t tell but I just typed a whole bunch about that very topic and deleted it. It will give you something to say when you say Hi.
Moving along…What do I do for a living? Well funny you should ask! I work for a defense contractor doing Computer stuff. If you are a geek and want to know more about computer stuff, great! 99% of the world would glaze over and mutter “nerd.” It has always been my passion and love. My office is filled with computers and protocol posters. I think God was a programmer. I think it is my balance, going from something so unattainable as understanding God and something as serial and analytical as computers. I travel a lot for work. Criss-crossing all over America working programs and projects. Gives me such a wonderful opportunity to see and meet many different people. I work with a great bunch of people that make it a family oriented environment.
For fun I love running. There is something peaceful hearing the stomp of one foot after another. I use the time to think and pray. Oscar (that would be my awesome 11.5 pound Wiener Dog) sits patiently as Dad runs the roads for his walk. When I am not pounding road, most of the time I am carving them on the motorcycle. I have 2 motorcycles that I mix and match with my mood riding through God’s beautiful Tennessee Valley. I also really love reading and enjoying a good afternoon of nothing. Most of the time it is a random decision to go and do something. I am always up for something new in life.
Pop culture tastes are varied. I can’t even begin to describe my iTunes library. You name it, it is in there. I don’t watch a lot of TV but will admit to watching The Office, History Channel, and Law and Order on repeat. Guess the biggest thing is it much challenge my mind to grow and approach something differently.
I live in a little town called Arab. Was supposed to be Arad, but they misspelled it when they sent in the paperwork. So yes, that makes me arabian. I have a nice little 100 year old farmhouse on a few acres out in the country. Since I travel as much as I do it is an escape when I come home. I love all the nature and trees around the house and it cuts off the world. I live pretty close to gorgeous Guntersville Lake, which is where my parish is. So I think that pretty much covers Nick. Goofy, geeky, God loving Catholic dude.
